it’s official

jimi officially puts himself to sleep! i’m still nursing [part of me isnt ready to let go of that bond, he’s growing up to fast! :/ ] but not to sleep. i put him in his bed while he’s still awake say “nuh night” and close the door. and voila! sleepy time :) what an awesome baby.

so i had a physical this morning and he was flirting with all the nurses, it was so funny/cute. it was an early one [8am] so i wasn’t sure he’d be very friendly but i bought him his favorite snack-little crunchies from gerber- a cup of milk, paper, and something to scribble with [yes, he knows how to “draw” now :) ]. he barely even cared i was there. the nurses couldn’t get over his little football footie [footy?] pajamas. i told them he’s my little patriots fan in the making. daddy would not have liked that.

i love how friendly he’s becoming. he just loves chatting people up. and his words are getting clearer and clearer. motherhood is SO exciting. i’m so glad i decided to finish my degree online. i can’t imagine not getting to witness all his new little quirks firsthand. online class can be killer though, especially if you’re better in a lecture style class like i am. wouldnt trade all the time i have with my munchkin though. or the flexible schedule.

wow i’m definitely rambling. i went from sporadic posts to talking way too much. so much for middle ground…

night, night!

you know your child is growing up when he tells YOU that it’s bedtime and then refuses to sleep while you’re in the room.

for the past week every night after he’s fed and changed into his pj’s i’ll brush his teeth. not long after he’ll start telling us “nuh nighttt” until we put him to bed.

then last night i nursed him, as usual… he wouldnt sleep. i rocked him, again he wouldnt sleep. i put him in his bed and rubbed his belly, still no sleep. finally i just closed the door and went into the living room. he fussed for maybe three seconds and that was that.

that has NEVER happened before.. my little boy’s growing up! :)

in other news,  my boy is in the 97th percentile of height & head circumference, and 30th for weight. and he has 8 teeth [two of them molars] and is working on 2 more molars.. AND he blows kisses! :) :) :) so many new things, so little time to share.

but we’re just about moved in to our new place now and the internet is more or less fixed so we can get on with our lives, and i can stop neglecting my posts… so much for daily posts. haha

three hundred & thirty dollars

that is the value of the clothes/shoes i bought today. i went shopping for a high chair. so how did i end up buying all that? i think i have a problem. a shopping problem. in my defense, having a baby seriously depleted my wardrobe. and to be totally honest, i LOVE my new purchases :)

in other news, i’m happy to report that my son is now sleeping through the night without as much as a whimper. talk about a miracle. thank you God! on that happy note, good night!

sleep? what’s that?

the albuterol i gave jimi on turned him into a legitimate insomniac for days. now i’m dealing with the after affects. it should not be this hard to put a tired child to bed!

it’s coming! it’s coming!

this morning my little lovebug woke up, opened his mouth, and there it was.

it wasn’t much. just a little bit poking through. but it’s coming… his tooth is finally, finally, FINALLY coming through! i’m more than thrilled. maybe he’ll finally start calming down. he’s been all over the place lately. last night he slept great but been it’s so touch and go. i want him to sleep like that all the time.

even still, YAY! :)

victory!

i’m happy to report that my little one is sound asleep in his bed, as he should be. one night was all it took. i nursed him, prayed for him and he’s back to sleeping through the night.

God is good :)

false alarms

so you remember those teeth? still haven’t showed.. he’s been cranky for what seems like an eternity. but tonight i finally decided that it’s time he went back to his routine. he cried and cried when he woke up  after 20 minutes. so i nursed him and put him back in bed. it’s now been over an hour and i haven’t heard the slightest whimper. so even if it means no sleep for days i’m putting that child back to sleep with the hopes that the end result will look something like this::

another day, another miracle

apparently my comp professor has super speed. how she managed to grade ALL of my classes essays when last night was the due date is beyond me. in any case, after all the worrying that i wouldnt get it done or that i would get low marks, turns out i was worried for nothing. i got an A!

i may be winning this battle but sleep is winning the war

we’re on day three of sleep-training jimi. or rather, i am on day three of sleep-training jimi and on one hand it’s going great [he only woke up twice last night!] on the other hand i’m DEAD TIRED. i’ve spent maybe 5 hours total in my bed since sunday. to make matters worse i have two essays. one due friday, one due sunday. why did i decide to go back to school again?
